California voters consider legalizing sports wagering this year while also helping the state fight against homelessness. Proceeds could provide ongoing funding to run much-needed programs. As the state provides one-time grants to tackle this issue, advocates press for long-term support.
“We can’t continue to keep working around the edges here and providing short-term solutions to a problem that’s decades in the making,” said Christopher Marin, policy director for the advocacy organization Housing California.
