Azalia Gomez-Camacho
Southern California Regional Organizer
Azalia Gomez-Camacho is an affordable housing advocate and community engagement leader with over seven years of experience building resident power and advancing equity across Southern California. As Housing California’s Southern California Regional Organizer, she leads the Residents United Network (RUN) in the region, organizing residents and grassroots leaders to shape statewide policies that create and preserve affordable homes.
Previously, Azalia served as the Resident Engagement Manager at Lift to Rise in the Coachella Valley, where she brought together community leaders and CBOs through the Resident Leadership Table to ensure residents had a voice in housing solutions. She also served as Inland Empire Policy Organizer at the Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing (SCANPH), where she revitalized the RUN program and helped advance resident-driven legislative proposals.
Selected as one of only 100 leaders nationwide, Azalia joined the second-ever Obama Leaders USA cohort, completing the Obama Foundation’s six-month leadership program to strengthen her leadership and foster cross-sector collaboration. She also serves on the board for the California Housing Partnership, which creates and preserves affordable homes for low-income Californians through expert financial and policy solutions.
Growing up in the Coachella Valley shaped Azalia’s commitment to ensuring every community has access to safe and affordable housing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Public Health from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Outside of work, she enjoys running her small baking business and spending time with family and friends.
