Veronica Zimmerman Garcia is an affordable housing developer working to bring housing opportunity and infrastructure investments to underserved communities and vulnerable populations on the Central Coast. She is passionate about engendering inclusivity and belonging through long term housing affordability.
Ms. Garcia currently serves as Chief Real Estate Development Officer for People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH), a community-based non-profit development corporation. In her role, she oversees affordable for-sale and rental housing development and construction activities in the PSHH service area of Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties. PSHH is currently developing over 200 low and medium income for-sale homes and over 1,000 affordable multifamily homes including farmworker housing, permanent supportive housing, and other low-income family housing. Prior to People’s, Ms. Garcia played a key role in the development of over 800 affordable homes primarily on the Central Coast including public housing redevelopment, inclusionary housing, and other low-income housing tax credit financed development.
Originally from the Los Angeles area, Ms. Garcia is a proud first-generation daughter of Salvadoran immigrants. She supports local community and housing advocacy efforts and serves as Planning Commissioner for Ventura County, District 5. Ms. Garcia completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California Los Angeles and is an alumna of the CORO fellowship in public affairs. She and her husband are proud UCLA alumni raising three young children in Oxnard, California.
